Unauthenticated rpd crash via malformed BGP update
Published Oct 12, 2023 · Updated Sep 19, 2024
Improper input validation in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows remote attackers to crash rpd via a malformed BGP update. The routing protocol daemon processes a specifically malformed ISO VPN BGP UPDATE packet without adequate input validation, causing the daemon to terminate. BGP configuration is required, and continued packet delivery sustains device-level denial of service; no confidentiality or integrity impact is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
