Privilege escalation via unchecked interface operation results

Unchecked return values in Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved interfaces allow remote authenticated users to gain unintended privileges. The CLI, XML API, NETCONF, gNMI, and J-Web paths fail to verify one or more operation results before continuing, so actions can execute with privileges different from those assigned to the operator. A valid operator session is required; consequences include cross-account privilege elevation, unauthorized file access, and execution of code as root.
