CVE-2023-4418Network attack vector

Service interruption via TCP SYN resource exhaustion

Published Aug 24, 2023 · Updated Jun 1, 2026

Uncontrolled resource consumption in SICK AG LMS5xx all firmware versions allows remote attackers to interrupt service via TCP SYN floods. Ethernet TCP connection handling accepts high volumes of SYN requests without adequate resource controls, exhausting the sensor until it becomes unresponsive. Network reachability is sufficient; no authentication or user interaction is required, and the reported consequence is temporary unavailability rather than data access or modification.
