CVE-2023-4412Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Root command execution via unsanitized hostname

Published Aug 18, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

OS command injection in TOTOLINK EX1200L EN_V9.3.5u.6146_B20201023 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The setWanCfg function inserts the unvalidated Host Name value into an echo command that writes /proc/sys/kernel/hostname, allowing shell metacharacters to alter the command. A valid management session is required under the CNA assessment, and successful injection grants root-level control of the appliance.
