Browser script execution via reflected error parameter
Published Oct 25, 2023 · Updated Sep 11, 2024
Reflected XSS in Xolo CMS 0.11 allows remote attackers to execute script in a visitor's browser through a crafted 404 error URL. The error.php handler inserts the data query parameter into the error response without output encoding, returning script markup as executable content. Exploitation requires a user to follow an attacker-controlled URL; executed script can read or alter browser-accessible data in the Xolo CMS origin.
