Script execution via reflected database-host markup
Published Sep 28, 2023 · Updated Sep 23, 2024
Cross-site scripting in the October CMS 3.4.16 installer allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via the dbhost field. The installation wizard reflects the submitted database-host value into a web page without neutralizing executable markup. Exploitation requires access to the browser-based installer and a victim who advances the installation workflow, causing attacker-supplied script to run in the victim's browser.
