Browser script execution via unsanitized installer fields
Published Oct 19, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Reflected XSS in the Subrion CMS 4.2.1 installer allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary web scripts through crafted setup fields. The installer reflects unsanitized dbhost, dbname, dbuser, adminusername, or adminemail input into the next-step page, where injected SVG onload code executes. The installation interface must remain reachable, and a user must submit the crafted field value and load the returned page for the script to run in that browser.
