Stored XSS via unsanitized PDF upload
Published Sep 28, 2023 · Updated Sep 23, 2024
Stored XSS in CMS Made Simple 2.2.18 allows remote authenticated users to run script in another user's browser via an uploaded PDF. The File Manager upload path accepts a PDF containing embedded script without neutralizing that active content, then serves the file so the script executes when opened. Exploitation requires panel access to upload the file and user interaction to open it, exposing browser-accessible data or actions in the victim's session.
