Stored XSS via unsanitized PDF upload
Published Sep 28, 2023 · Updated Sep 23, 2024
Stored XSS in the Media uploader in WBCE CMS 1.6.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through a crafted PDF. The Media upload workflow accepts a PDF containing hidden script without neutralizing the active content, then serves it so the script runs when opened. An authenticated user must upload the file and another user must open it; the resulting script executes in that viewer's browser context.
