Stored script execution via uploaded SVG avatar
Published Oct 4, 2023 · Updated Sep 20, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Personal Management System 1.4.64 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript via a crafted SVG avatar. The UserAvatar update submits the avatar value without restricting SVG content, and the stored image renders embedded script when opened. An authenticated profile is needed to store the avatar, and another user must open it in a separate browser tab; the demonstrated impact is browser-side JavaScript execution rather than server-side code execution.
