CVE-2023-43802

Privilege escalation via unchecked upload path join

Published Oct 18, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024

Path traversal in Arduino Cloud Agent 1.3.2 and earlier allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files through a crafted upload filename. The /upload handler joins the filename to its temporary directory without verifying that the resolved path remains inside that directory. Access requires a local HTTP request or a CORS bypass; the overwrite runs with the agent user's permissions and enables code execution in that context.
