CVE-2023-43801

Arbitrary file deletion via crafted plugin names

Published Oct 18, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024

Path traversal in Arduino Cloud Agent before 1.3.3 allows local users to delete files and folders through crafted plugin names. The /v2/pkgs/tools/installed DELETE handler uses a supplied plugin name to construct a deletion path without neutralizing doubled triple-dot traversal sequences, allowing resolution outside the tools directory. Exploitation requires localhost HTTP access or a CORS bypass, and deletion is limited to files and folders accessible to the account running the agent.
