Local privilege escalation via LHZ archive unpacking
Published Sep 22, 2023 · Updated Sep 25, 2024
Local privilege escalation in affected WithSecure endpoint products allows local users to gain elevated privileges through LHZ archive processing. The privileged archive unpack handler processes attacker-controlled LHZ content incorrectly, but WithSecure has not disclosed the faulty operation or code locus. A low-privileged local account and delivery of crafted content to the handler are required; successful exploitation grants the handler's elevated privileges.
