Archived-channel disclosure via missing permalink authorization check
Published Nov 27, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Information disclosure in Mattermost 7.8.12, 8.1.3, 9.0.1, and 9.1.0 allows remote authenticated users to view archived post previews. The permalink-preview path omits the authorization check for the “Allow users to view archived channels” setting and renders previews despite its disabled state. Membership access is required, and exposure is limited to archived-channel content reachable through a permalink preview, with no reported write or availability impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
