Authenticated command execution via unvalidated patch filename
Published Dec 8, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
OS command injection in Zultys MX firmware allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through a crafted patch filename. Patch Manager passes the administrator-supplied filename to a shell script without validation, so Bash command-substitution characters execute the embedded command. Administrator-level access to the network-reachable MX Administrator service is required, and successful exploitation runs commands on the underlying host.
