CVE-2023-4369Network attack vector

File restriction bypass via Systems Extensions XSS

Published Aug 15, 2023 · Updated May 5, 2025

Insufficient data validation in Google Chrome on ChromeOS before 116.0.5845.120 allows attackers to bypass file restrictions. Systems Extensions accepts a crafted HTML page from an installed malicious extension without adequately validating file access, enabling XSS to escape the intended restrictions. Exploitation requires a user to install the malicious extension and encounter its crafted page; the reported consequence is restricted-file access bypass.
