Enterprise policy bypass via malicious extension
Published Aug 15, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Insufficient policy enforcement in Google Chrome before 116.0.5845.96 allows attackers to bypass enterprise policy via crafted HTML. The Extensions API fails to enforce an unspecified enterprise restriction when a malicious extension handles the crafted page; Google has not published the affected policy or code path. The attack requires a user to install the malicious extension and encounter attacker-controlled HTML, after which configured enterprise restrictions can be bypassed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
