Enterprise policy bypass via unchecked resource-content access
Published Aug 15, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Insufficient policy enforcement in Google Chrome before 116.0.5845.96 allows attackers to bypass enterprise policy via a crafted page. ExtensionServer returned page-resource and network-request contents to extensions without checking whether their permissions allowed access to the underlying URL. Exploitation requires a user to install a malicious extension and visit the crafted HTML page, defeating configured site-access restrictions.
