Unauthenticated file read via unsanitized image path
Published Sep 28, 2023 · Updated Sep 23, 2024
Path traversal in ShokoAnime Shoko Server 4.2.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files via crafted image requests. The unauthenticated /api/Image/WithPath endpoint passes its serverImagePath route parameter directly to System.IO.File.OpenRead without constraining it to an image directory. A network-reachable endpoint therefore exposes files readable by the server account; Windows installer deployments run that account as Administrator.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
