Authenticated file disclosure via unbounded attachment path
Published Oct 30, 2023 · Updated Sep 5, 2024
Path traversal in baserCMS before 4.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to read server files through the mail attachment endpoint. MailMessagesController::admin_attachment joins request-derived path segments to the upload directory and serves the resulting file without canonicalizing it or verifying directory containment. Access to the management screen is required, and the documented consequence is server-file disclosure without integrity or availability impact.
