Unauthenticated code execution via unchecked remote DLL loading
Published Oct 10, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025
Code injection in Siemens Simcenter Amesim before 2021.1 allows remote attackers to execute code through its SOAP simulation service. STDSIMDaemon.exe accepts attacker-controlled modelname and directory values in model-load2, builds a remote DLL path, and loads it without integrity validation. The daemon listens on network ports without authentication, so a crafted request executes code with the application process's privileges.
