Heap corruption via Network use-after-free
Published Aug 15, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Use-after-free in Google Chrome's Network component before 116.0.5845.96 allows remote attackers to corrupt heap memory through crafted HTML. The component accesses an object after its lifetime ends as the page elicits browser shutdown, but Google has not disclosed the lower-level code locus. Loading the page and reaching shutdown require user interaction; successful exploitation corrupts memory in the browser process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
