CVE-2023-43477Public exploit

Root command execution via unsanitized ping source

Published Sep 20, 2023 · Updated Sep 24, 2024

Command injection in Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 LH1000 firmware before 0.18.15r allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The ping_tracerte.cgi handler inserts the unsanitized ping_from value into diagnostic command strings that /usr/sbin/httpd passes to popen(). Exploitation requires an authenticated adjacent-network session and grants complete root-level command execution on the modem.
