Authenticated script execution via unsanitized news title
Published Oct 23, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in CMS Made Simple 2.2.18 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through a news title. The News module inadequately sanitizes the Title field and later renders the stored value into a public page, where a browser interprets injected markup. Administration-panel access is required to store the payload, and execution occurs when another user visits the affected page, exposing that browser session to attacker-controlled script actions.
