Stored XSS via unsanitized shortcut titles
Published Oct 20, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in CMS Made Simple 2.2.18 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through shortcut titles. The Manage Shortcuts form stores the Title value without neutralizing injected markup, so a crafted SVG onload handler runs when the main page renders it. Low-privileged panel access is required to save the title, and another user must load the affected page; successful exploitation runs script in that user's browser context.
