Stored script execution via unsanitized Profile value
Published Oct 20, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in CMS Made Simple 2.2.18 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through a crafted Profile value. The MicroTiny WYSIWYG editor saves the Profile field without adequate sanitization, and the payload runs when another user opens the affected page. Access to the administrative panel is required to plant the payload, and a victim must view the page, exposing that browser session to script-controlled reads and writes.
