Remote code execution via cache string escape
Published Sep 26, 2023 · Updated Sep 24, 2024
Deserialization in emlog pro 2.1.15 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code through crafted article aliases. Cache::readCache strips every PHP exit marker before calling unserialize, so marker text in serialized aliases corrupts declared lengths and injects attacker-chosen values. A registered writer must create and modify articles; code execution further depends on PDO multi-statements or register_argc_argv with pearcmd, while the demonstrated baseline discloses SQL query results.
