Remote code execution via stack overflow
Published Sep 21, 2023 · Updated Sep 24, 2024
Stack overflow in D-Link DIR-816 A2 firmware 1.10CNB05 allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted macCloneMac input. The setMAC handler uses the supplied nvmacaddr string length as a copy limit, allowing oversized data to overwrite stack memory. Requests reach the HTTP management endpoint and can crash the goahead process or yield a root shell when the attacker can access that interface.
