Administrator account takeover via user parameter tampering
Published Feb 3, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Incorrect access control in Reprise Software RLM 15.1 allows remote authenticated users to take over administrator accounts. The change_password_process endpoint accepts a caller-controlled user POST parameter and resets that named account’s password without enforcing the caller’s read-only role. Any read-only web-interface account can target an administrator username, gaining that administrator’s access after the password change.
