Code execution via oversized IP address input
Published Sep 25, 2023 · Updated Sep 24, 2024
Buffer overflow in General Device Manager 2.5.2.2 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through a crafted IP address. The Add Device handler copies an oversized IP Address value until it overwrites structured exception handling data, enabling a NetSDK.dll return sequence to reach supplied code. Exploitation requires entering the payload in the local dialog and selecting OK, after which code runs with the application's privileges.
