Authenticated privilege escalation via localhost token bypass
Published Oct 16, 2023 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Privilege escalation in affected Extreme Networks Switch Engine releases allows remote authenticated users to gain administrator access. The Chalet /auth/token endpoint trusts localhost requests and issues an administrator JWT, while the read-only telnet tool can forge an HTTP request to 127.0.0.1. Read-only credentials and network access to the management interface are required; the resulting token permits privileged API calls and device commands.
