Arbitrary command execution via mutable IJS server
Published Sep 18, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Command execution in Artifex Ghostscript through 10.01.2 allows remote attackers to run arbitrary commands via crafted PostScript files. In gdevijs.c, PostScript can select the IJS output device or overwrite IjsServer after SAFER activates, causing Ghostscript to launch the supplied server command. The payload executes with the privileges of the process that renders the document, and opening or converting the file provides the required user interaction.
