Data interception via spoofed vCenter CA certificate
Published Nov 22, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Certificate validation failure in Dell Unity before 5.3.0.0.5.120 allows remote attackers to intercept vCenter communications. The vmadapter accepts an attacker-controlled public-CA-signed certificate as a spoofed vCenter CA instead of validating the intended authority. Exposure requires a Unity certificate signed by a third-party public CA and an attacker able to obtain a CA-signed certificate; only confidentiality impact is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
