Local shell command execution via CLI access control
Published Oct 5, 2023 · Updated Sep 19, 2024
Improper access control in Dell SmartFabric Storage Software v1.4 and earlier allows local attackers to execute arbitrary shell commands via the CLI. The CLI fails to enforce authorization before processing command requests, exposing shell-command execution to a local possibly unauthenticated attacker. Exploitation requires local access to the SFSS virtual appliance; successful commands can read data or interrupt services, with integrity impact not reported.
