CVE-2023-4299Network attack vector

Unauthenticated equipment access via replayed password hash

Published Aug 31, 2023 · Updated Jan 16, 2025

Authentication bypass in Digi RealPort Protocol allows remote attackers to access connected equipment by replaying an authentication exchange. The device answers a challenge before the client authenticates, allowing a captured password-hash exchange to be reused as authentication. Network access to the configured RealPort service on TCP 771 or encrypted TCP 1027 is required; successful replay grants access to attached serial equipment.
