Authenticated directory listing via shortcode path traversal
Published Nov 27, 2023 · Updated Jun 5, 2025
Path traversal in Media Manifesto Inc Mmm Simple File List 2.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to list arbitrary directories. The parse-media-shortcode AJAX action expands an MMFileList shortcode whose folder attribute accepts parent-directory sequences and uses the resulting path for directory enumeration without confinement. Subscriber-level WordPress access is sufficient; the demonstrated consequence is disclosure of directory names and listings, not arbitrary file reads or modification.
