Administrator privilege escalation via reflected error-page JavaScript
Published Aug 29, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Reflected XSS in PTC Codebeamer 21.09-SP13, 22.04-SP5, and 22.10-SP7 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript. The dynamic errorHandler.spr page reflects the fileName parameter into HTML after its filter misses an onpointermove handler, causing attacker-supplied JavaScript to run in the site's origin. An administrator must open the crafted link; the demonstrated script silently changes registration settings so a newly registered account receives administrator privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
