CVE-2023-42940Network attack vector

Screen-content disclosure via incorrect session tracking

Published Dec 19, 2023 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Information disclosure in WindowServer in Apple macOS Sonoma before 14.2.1 allows attackers to view incorrect shared-screen content. WindowServer's session-rendering path tracks the sharing session incorrectly, so it renders content that does not belong in the selected share. The disclosure requires an authenticated user to share a screen and interact with the session, and it is limited to unintended visual content.
