Administrator account creation via stored Referer script
Published Sep 11, 2023 · Updated May 2, 2025
Stored XSS in KaizenCoders URL Shortify before 1.7.6 allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser. Click tracking stores an attacker-supplied Referer header, and the link statistics view renders that value without proper output escaping. An administrator must open the affected short link's statistics page; the script then runs with that session and can create an administrator account.
