CVE-2023-42925

Notes attachment disclosure via weak container restrictions

Published Jul 29, 2024 · Updated Mar 20, 2025

AppSandbox in Apple iOS and iPadOS before 17 and macOS before 14 allows local users to read Notes attachments through an app. The sandbox insufficiently restricts data-container access, permitting an app to cross the intended container boundary and retrieve attachment data held by Notes. Local execution of a low-privileged app is required, and the reported consequence is limited to disclosure of Notes attachment contents.
