CVE-2023-42865Network attack vector

Process-memory disclosure via out-of-bounds image read

Published Jan 10, 2024 · Updated Jun 16, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in Apple ImageIO allows remote attackers to disclose process memory when an affected device processes an image. ImageIO inadequately validates image input bounds before a memory read, allowing the read to extend beyond the intended buffer. Exploitation requires image processing and user interaction; affected releases are iOS and iPadOS before 16.4, tvOS before 16.4, macOS before 13.3, and watchOS before 9.4.
