CVE-2023-42820Network attack vector

Unauthenticated password resets via exposed PRNG state

Published Sep 26, 2023 · Updated Sep 23, 2024

Information exposure in JumpServer 2.24 through 2.28.18 and 3.0.0 through 3.6.4 allows remote attackers to reset local passwords. The generate_reset_token path draws verification material from Python's process-global pseudorandom generator, while an API-exposed seed permits prediction and replay; the patch reseeds random_string before generating a token. Exploitation requires local authentication and an account without MFA, and a successful replay changes that account's password.
