CVE-2023-42814Network attack vector

Admission-request blocking via unbounded registry referrers

Published Nov 13, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Denial of service in Kyverno main-branch builds before 1.11.0 allows attackers controlling an attestation registry to block admission requests. The Notary FetchAttestations path accepts an unbounded manifest list from the registry referrers response and processes every entry, exhausting controller resources. Exploitation requires registry control and an image-verification request; official Kyverno releases are unaffected.
