CVE-2023-42810Network attack vector

Command execution via unquoted detected SSID

Published Sep 21, 2023 · Updated Sep 24, 2024

Command injection in systeminformation 5.0.0 through 5.21.6 allows attackers to execute commands through a crafted Wi-Fi SSID. The Linux wifiConnections() path obtains the detected SSID from nmcli or wpa_cli and inserts it unquoted into an nmcli command executed by the shell. Exploitation requires the Wi-Fi routine to process an attacker-controlled detected SSID, and commands run with the Node.js process privileges.
