Reflected XSS via traversable locale path
Published Oct 4, 2023 · Updated Sep 19, 2024
Reflected XSS in Mozilla Common Voice 1.88.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to run same-origin script via a crafted locale URL. The privacy route passes its locale parameter to fetchLegalDocument, which permits ../ traversal to attacker-controlled Markdown and renders it as HTML. A victim must open the crafted URL; the resulting script executes with the Common Voice server origin and can access origin-scoped data.
