CVE-2023-42806Network attack vector

Value theft or DoS via snapshot replay

Published Sep 21, 2023 · Updated Sep 24, 2024

Signature verification in Input Output Global Hydra before 0.13.0 allows remote authenticated users to misdirect value or prevent head finalization. Snapshot signatures cover only the new UTxO state and transaction list, omitting the unique head identifier that binds a snapshot to one head instance. An attacker must participate in a new head with the same participants and reused keys, then replay an old snapshot to close or contest it, causing incorrect value distribution or a nonfinalizing head.
