Client code execution via unchecked RTSP URL copy
Published Dec 14, 2023 · Updated Oct 8, 2024
Buffer overflow in Moonlight Game Streaming Project moonlight-common-c allows remote attackers to crash clients or execute code via a malicious server. In parseUrlAddrFromRtspUrlString in RtspConnection.c, strcpy copies an arbitrarily long server-supplied RTSP address into the 48-byte urlAddr buffer without a size check. Exploitation requires a user to pair with the malicious host and select a video bitrate of at least 15 Mbps; public-key pinning blocks a man-in-the-middle path.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
