CVE-2023-42770Network attack vector

Unauthenticated command execution via unchecked TCP UDR messages

Published Nov 21, 2023 · Updated Jun 11, 2025

Authentication bypass in Red Lion Controls SixTRAK and VersaTRAK RTUs allows remote attackers to send unauthenticated Sixnet UDR commands. The TCP/IP handler accepts UDR messages without the authentication challenge enforced for the same messages over UDP/IP on firmware 6.0.202 or 4.9.114, depending on the model. Network access to the TCP service bypasses enabled UDR-A authentication and exposes supported RTU operations, including highest-privilege shell commands.
