CVE-2023-4263

Memory corruption via unchecked payload copy

Published Oct 13, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Buffer overflow in the nRF IEEE 802.15.4 driver in Zephyr RTOS 3.4.0 and earlier allows physically proximate attackers to corrupt memory. The nrf5_tx function copies frag->len bytes with memcpy into the fixed tx_psdu buffer without rejecting payloads larger than an IEEE 802.15.4 frame. The advisory does not establish that untrusted input reaches this transmit path; successful corruption ranges from a device crash to code execution.
