Stored XSS via unescaped vocabulary description
Published Oct 17, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in Liferay Portal 7.4.2 through 7.4.3.87 and DXP 7.4 before update 88 allows remote attackers to run script in users' browsers. The Asset Categories Admin Web view.jsp writes a stored vocabulary description directly into HTML without escaping it; the fix wraps the value in HtmlUtil.escape(). The affected module must be enabled, the attacker needs permission to create vocabulary data, and a victim must view or select the malicious entry.
